Kane Williamson has arrived in Manchester to lead a specialist coaching block for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as the franchise sends Mukul Choudhary and Akshat Raghuwanshi for advanced training with Williamson and Justin Langer on 13 July 2026.
What’s happening in Manchester
LSG confirmed the three-week technical camp at Emirates Old Trafford on Monday. Williamson, the New Zealand batter, will work alongside Langer, the head coach, to sharpen the squad’s technique and tactical understanding. Choudhary and Raghuwanshi, two uncapped Indian pace options, are the first to fly in for the programme.
The camp runs from 13 July to 3 August. Sessions focus on powerplay hitting, death-overs execution and seam control. Williamson’s presence gives the youngsters direct access to one of modern cricket’s sharpest minds.
Why this matters for Kane Williamson
This is Williamson’s first formal coaching stint since stepping back from international captaincy. His role is part-player mentor, part-batting consultant. Langer called it a chance to "embed Kane’s methods into the group’s muscle memory."
For Williamson, the camp is low-pressure. He isn’t under contract to play; instead he’s shaping LSG’s next wave of talent. The franchise sees it as a long-term investment in their batting spine and death-overs unit.
Who’s already on the ground
Choudhary, 24, has 18 IPL wickets at 8.6 economy. Raghuwanshi, 22, is yet to debut in the competition. Both will train twice daily under Williamson’s watchful eye. Langer will rotate them into red-ball and white-ball nets to test adaptability.
The rest of the squad—Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis and Quinton de Kock—are in Lucknow preparing for the next IPL window. Only the two rookies plus Williamson and Langer are in Manchester.
What comes next
LSG plan a mid-camp review on 27 July. If the metrics improve—higher strike rates in powerplay, tighter death overs—the franchise may extend the camp or invite more players. Williamson’s contract ends after the camp, but LSG are already eyeing a longer consultancy if the chemistry clicks.
For now, the focus is on small wins. A single extra boundary per innings or two fewer runs conceded in the last five overs could decide LSG’s title push next season.
